Out among the stars, the vastness of time conspires against us. For every primitive intelligence banging rocks together, we find five worlds with ruins of long vanished civilizations. Some died barely out of the stone age. Others once conquered the stars and left forgotten monuments on distant worlds. Here, a race five hundred thousand years gone built something. Not sure what the buildings do, but those tubes are drains...
