Rampart Tarmac
We got the usual notice: a half hour to pack up all our gear and drop it with the loaders. Then we suited up and rode elevators to the surface. It was morning on Mercury. Only about 350K outside, but my visor went nearly black from the glare.
No reason why we couldn't have boarded our ships down in the hangers, but Brigadier Remek-Ombuto wanted to review the troops. That's her right, and we're Marines; we don't question, we just obey. We don't even know where we're going, but they'll tell us when we get there.
