Space Elevator

Rising above a tropical island, the space elevator to geosynchronous orbit hauls people and supplies on a five day journey into space.  Space Elevators, or Beanstalks, finally made deep space travel safe and affordable, opening up the solar system frontier by the middle of the twenty-first century.
