In 5500CE, the Great Nebular City reached completion, ready for limited occupancy. During the inauguration ceremonies of President Venya Wei, the aging and war damaged Verne Drift moved into the outer Armpit Nebula, approaching the Great Nebular city and parking above the Alpha Saucer. There, outgoing President Yaskar Bremman left his office on Verne and personally moved Barnas Khan's chair into the new presidential suite. In the ensuing centuries, the Verne continued to sail the Armpit, often venturing close to the central black hole and becoming a shabby refuge for miners and questionable ventures.
